First time....

I've just looked in on AN immediately after checking the weather. We're a day from midwinter, it's an hour and forty minutes after sunset and it's 14.2 degrees outside.

I did say a while back that it was going to be hard to predict whether we'd have a mild or a harsh winter this year, but I wouldn't have predicted this,

Species caught in 2020: Barbel. European Eel. Bleak. Perch. Pike.

Species caught in 2019: Pike. Bream. Tench. Chub. Common Carp. European Eel. Barbel. Bleak. Dace.

Species caught in 2018: Perch. Bream. Rainbow Trout. Brown Trout. Chub. Roach. Carp. European Eel.

Species caught in 2017: Siamese carp. Striped catfish. Rohu. Mekong catfish. Amazon red tail catfish. Arapaima. Black Minnow Shark. Perch. Chub. Brown Trout. Pike. Bream. Roach. Rudd. Bleak. Common Carp.

Species caught in 2016: Siamese carp. Jullien's golden carp. Striped catfish. Mekong catfish. Amazon red tail catfish. Arapaima. Alligator gar. Rohu. Black Minnow Shark. Roach, Bream, Perch, Ballan Wrasse. Rudd. Common Carp. Pike. Zander. Chub. Bleak.

Species caught in 2015: Brown Trout. Roach. Bream. Terrapin. Eel. Barbel. Pike. Chub.

There's usually a 4 to 6 week lag between midwinter/midsummer and the coldest/hottest weather of the year. We could have a cold snap but it's unlikely to be another 2010, when we had seriously cold weather from early November.

We are having a strange Winter here as well. A few nights below freezing but it never lasted long and Christmas week looks to be positively balmy.

Ihad to cut the grass last week and while I was out there I picked around a pound of fresh raspberries

.... I've ever had to mow the lawn in December!

C.

I haven't mowed my lawn for the last ten years.

Peter does it once a fortnight between April and October usually (November the last cut this year)

Peter and his machine appear to be tobacco-powered. A supply of roll-ups is made, then Peter is off - up and down (we slope to the south) in perfectly straight lines, and puff, puff, puff blue smoke - reminds me of the B4 I used to use for shunting at the Bluebell.

Usually have to cut the grass twice a week in December due to the Wet. This year, however only cut it once, thanks to El Nino...But managed to cut 3 bunches of bananas and pick 15 mangoes...mainly from other gardens, well, the owners are on holidays and we don't want the mangoes to rot on the ground, do we?
