Ridiculous examples of modern fishing tackle.

Recommended Posts

Any moist baits in pva bags or mesh can only be used with an oil based medium, or dry bait.

Or have I come in missing something??

You could dry sweetcorn off with kitchen paper & use it like that or add some edible oil or oil based glug.

Oil has no effect on pva.

I think missing something, I was only putting dry oily pellets in the bags. Problem was the rain, the bags were getting wet as soon as I tried to cast and simply melting straight away!

Thats definately not ideal weather for using PVA netting or bags in, thats for sure Ian. :)

Lol Keith, I didn't realise they melted instantly, I was sure i'd seen it somewhere that they slowly dissolved over several minuites, I really didn't think a few rain drops would have caused them to melt in seconds!

Anyhow, that one incident put me off 'em from then on and i've never used 'em since. I reckon the only time i'm likely to get some more is if my korda plastic tube/ container gets lost or broken, and then I might buy some purely for the container :).

I don't use PVA stocking very often at all but if Im really having trouble determining the area that my feed is hitting bottom and Im fishing a semi static method like trundling my bait every now and then; then a PVA stocking will often solve this problem for me.

The only other time that I would use PVA stocking is when Im fishing for Carp and feeding pellets and I cant concentrate my freebies close to my hookbait because of a gusty or strong wind; which could spread my freebies too far and wide; although in these conditions I usually use PVA string with a few freebie boilees threaded onto the PVA string, and attatched this to my hook instead of using PVA stocking.

But I only use PVA if I cant feed accurately another way; and Ive never used it in the rain.

What do you reckon about that then?

Anyhow, Keith, if I ever do use it again, i"ll make sure it's not on a rainy day lol.

I found, at the waterside, a pair of stainless steel artery forceps which were CAMOUFLAGED. (which is presumably why the previous owner had failed to find them)

Scraped the paint off, they are now gleaming silver. Find lots of fancy floats also, Keep them in my tackle box but have never found a use for them (see porcupine quill thread)
