Ant,

I am a bit disgusted with Earl Grey (or Earl Gray - I forget). It has long been my "go to" tea.  It now seems to me there is a wide disparity of taste and color (no"U" please, it would just be wasted). It's become very inconsistent.

To be honest I only buy it on the odd occasion. Mainly I just buy what's on offer at the time, and failing that, Tesco's own will do me. :D

Ant,

YES, in fact I drink the occasional cup of my wife's (fu-fu) flavored tea. During this confinement I must be averaging 5 - 6 cups a day, maybe more. Have you ever had any luck with decaffeinated?  I'm considering giving it a go. Guess I can always throw it away.

What the point of drinking something with the best bit removed? What next alcohol free beer? The taste is distinctly different! in alcohol  has its place in tea pointless !no-ones ever killed someone in a tea fueled rage.

Every american movie i have seen with tea in it has a lipton tea bag dangling for a few seconds in it (weve been here before Cory will step in in a second lol) and the results some pale wee coloured tea ,thats not tea i am not even sure anyone drinks it here !?!

Captain picards earl grey looks distinctly weak but thats for americans if it were stronger they would all be out looking for earl grey coffee lol

Tea is dark almost to dark to see through i use 2 tea bags in a mug or (cory...,.lol) or a single person pot with 3 teaspoons of my tea leaf mix in it and away you go .My mrs doesnt drink much tea so the bigger tea pot waits for visitors .

My old granny used to read tea leaves (not very well going from memory) i hate drinking even one leaf but nowadays pots have built in strainers so tea leaves a thing of the past.

I didnt have a pot until i sourced tea leaves at a cut down price at a quid for 500 germs it made sense to buy as much as i could get its in shrunk wrapped bags anyway but i put them in my vacuum sealer bags so safe from damp ,now i have 4 pots a single person and 2 backups and a bigger one ,being glass its best to prepare!

I presume if tea differes in taste it could be a bad year weather wise or just inconsistency on getting the same source ,theres always cost cutting so maybe your earls a viscount to save a few bucks lol

That made me giggle :D I won't mention what my ex and daughter used to refer to as their "fu-fu".

I haven't ever tried decaf tea so can't answer that Phone. I'm a coffee drinker during the day and then switch to tea on an evening. I am aware that tea contains caffein but i'm sure it's in nowhere near the amounts in coffee. I could be wrong, and could google it, but i'm happy to remain ignorant.

I do like Earl Grey but I guess that's down to i've always loved the aroma of bergamot..........plus I can pretend to be Jean Luc Picard and instruct my kettle "Earl Grey, hot". :D

I drink Thompson’s tea that can be hard to get, used to be called punjana, it suits my palette.

Decaf. Tea is shite IMO.

To lessen the caffeine in a cup plunge the tea bag into boiling water for a few secs then use the wet tea bag to make your brew.
