Cant see it with my 50x zoom camera so i guess it doesnt exist ,i presume the lander sends data to mother ship who passes it onto the earth but at that distance how does it know where the earth is or does it just shout in the general direction

Whats the time lag ?

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Fortunately we have Hubble and the James Webb telescope and are not reliant on your 50x Zoom camera

How does it know what direction the Earth is; Plain old Newtonian physics.

How long does a signal take to get from Rosetta? 28 minutes and 20 seconds. You'll need an X-Band radio dish of about 20m diameter to be able to pick up the signal. The signal is very clean, but very weak. Rosetta only has a 20 watt transmitter.

A totally incredible achievement. Congratulations to all concerned. :clap3:

A magnificent feat in engineering and space navigation Bob.

It is, mind blowing really. Even more so when you consider that the on-board technology is at least ten years old, possibly a lot older given the time taken to plan and build before launch

Chesters1,

first to the mother ship - then the space shuttle - then earth - approx. 4 minutes.

I suspect even you could achieve such a feat. It's laying on it's side. How hard could that be?

Four minites LOL. It takes light 8 minutes from Earth to the Sun, and that thing is much, much further away than the sun. The Space shuttle has nothing to do with it. You guys scrapped the shuttle, remeber? You just forgot to get a new model beforehand.
