Don't ask me Davy, I'm just playing 'Devils Advocate' by offsetting the anti religious posts. :D

(Though if I don't believe in God Then I can't believe in the Devil, so how can I play his advocate? :unsure: )

 

The whole point of my 'alternative' was to say that I can understand some people needing to believe in a reason for being here. I don't share that belief, but I feel that as science unfolds the picture, we become more and more insignificant in stature.

Scientists can produce theories, facts etc, until they are blue in the face. What would really satisfy most people deep down is the answer to ...why?

They might not like the answer, (if there is one) but it doesn't stop them searching for it.

I know that you know that I am an atheist like yourself. What you don't know is that I share a house with a born again christian when I am in the UK. One night we were having a chat and I said to him, I'm paraphrasing, its too long ago to remember the conversation verbatim but it went something like this. I said to him "You are athiest in a way just like me". He asked me what I meant. I responded "There are plenty of gods that you don't believe in, hundreds. You don't believe in thor or freya or amun ra or mercury or wodin do you?" He said no of course not. I said "Well I just disbelieve in one more god than you do, I don't believe in jehova". He said "Then why are we here?". I said that there was no "why", but he can't accept it. Je ne sais pas pourquoi?.

 

We get on fine bye the way, but neither has been converted yet and I've rented here for about 4 years now.

not sure what i am i dont believe in anything :D

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

 

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

 

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

Me neither, there are things that i know to be false and things that I accept as factual. Neither, unlike some other things I could mention are engraved in stone and can be reviewed should evidence change.
