Been out all day and on the way home I did something I haven't done for the best part of 20 years. Stopped and got a McDonalds.

I think it will be more than 20 years before the next one.

Hold on a minute, if I'd have know that we're doing breakfast top trumps I would have photographed this morning's eggs benedict and fresh brewed coffee. I was mulling over going fishing but the rain was coming down so a trip to Waitrose for muffins, eggs, prosciutto ham and hollandaise sauce seemed a much better idea....and it was.

Number one son treated us to Braised Pheasant, with roast potatoes, roast carrots, braised broccoli and all the trimmings for Sunday lunch. Huge portions, followed by elaborate calorie-rich sticky-toffee pudding (which I declined). Result, despite my abstinence, - non-combatant for the afternoon.

 

So the evening meal was a light one - spiced button-squash soup, followed by fresh fruit.

I had my first and only McDonalds 25 years ago, it's not something I'll ever do again - grey flabby warm greasy shite in a floppy bun is the only way to describe what I was expected to eat.

 

(I was only there for nippers birthday party - it's much more convenient to let someone else clean up the crisps, cake, jelly and ice cream from the floor).

I think chesters a bit like me. I always make sure it's a clean tablecloth. Nothing older than yesterdays newspaper will do, and it has to be a broadsheet, none of that tabloid tat.
