Simple by the time that species show any indications of a problem the whole chain below it would have collapsed.

As for an indicator species WHY do we need one that wasn't there before. And we DID NOT ask for them to be brought back !! Was we asked NO we wasn't. An APEX predator was brought back without thought of what would happen. Why because they look pretty - we never see the bloody things !!

Hundreds of thousands of pounds spent on stock fish , GONE ! WHERE ??

Why must we keep being told that we must prove without any doubt that these bloody animals are at fault !

When we did not have the losses before the release of otters and now have losses that are costing thousands of pounds not just to Anglers ,Fisheries and Farmers ( That used to rent rivers to angling clubs that because of massive fish losses they no longer want) with fisheries closing because its to expensive to replace the lost stock. Accept it Otters are at fault !!

You prove to me it ain't OTTERS.

END OF RANT and I'm not coming back to this thread.

Before you go, just remind me what your signature says....something about an open mind?

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

If it comes down to one or the other, I'd rather have otters than artificially stocked fisheries. Sorry, I just don't think angling for tame fish is more important than native British wildlife.

I can remember one day, many years ago, I wnet fishing on a small river in Shropshire that we found. I spotted a king Fisher and only a few yards further down river an Otter with cubs. That day I went home with a whistle and a smile on my face.

Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional :-)
