I think those 'remainers' who thought it was a foregone conclusion and so didn't vote are regretting it more, might be a fair few among these petitioners;

Same as the leave voters, they thought they had no chance of winning according to some press reports.

The Bregretters! How some voters who backed Leave vote now claim they want to STAY in the EU . . . 'I didn't think my vote would count'
  • Some Leave voters expressed unease at today's shock referendum result
  • One woman said she was 'disappointed' and would vote Remain next time
  • Another man said he opted Brexit because his vote would be insignificant
  • One voter said she felt 'robbed' of her vote because she was fed 'lies'

The assumption that remain would win anyway seems to be the reason a lot of people voted leave, as some kind of protest at the establishment. Might explain why no one seems to be celebrating this genuinely momentous event. I would have thought that after unshackling us from the suffocating tyrrany of Brussels after all this time there'd be parties in the street...instead there's just a profound sense of shock and, in some cases, regret.

Let them go for it, it will then enable us to dismiss any vote, including local and general elections, and demand a revote. It would mean that we could take even longer than the EU bureaucracy to reach any decision, if ever.

I don't do disgusted, but the vitriol being sprayed about on the internet, by some of those who don't agree with the result, is as near as I've come in a long time. Some of the comments coming from, mainly the younger voters, makes me wonder if the voting age is too low. Even my daughter, (who voted remain), as taken some of her friends to task over their childish comments. I've been called racist, a xenophobe, a 'coffin dodger', and someone who shouldn't have a vote, because I won't live as long as someone younger . The fact that their narrow, prepubescent minds can't comprehend the fact that I voted how I did, because I genuinely believe that it is the best thing in the long term. Not for me, but for my kids and Grandkids, and the nation as a whole.

I don't know anyone who voted out that's regretting doing so.....that's pure bullshine being shouted by the remain fools.

It wouldn't surprise me if other countries start to abandon the sinkiing ship now that the UK has.

Regarding Scotland...the soooner Hadrians wall is re-built the better lol.

That's a bold statement, would be interested in your sources.

There's a real risk here that resentment caused by the result could be more harmful than the actual effect. It's done and we can either sit back, do nothing and wait for regression or we can grasp the opportunity.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

Interesting article. A place in Wales that voted out due to non-existent immigration. Will the new government really match all the funding they've had/we're going to get from the EU?

What happens if/when they don't? Who to blame?

Precisely the reason why Boris was so measured in his speech and why there have been no street parties. A schism in our society would be more damaging than leaving the EU.

Besides, we haven't triggered article 50 yet, so for the moment at least, nothing changes and we remain members - although I confess that I'd rather see that process initiated sooner than latter.

Who cares? One of the biggest problems this nation has is all the freeloaders who only care about what they are going to get for free without getting off their collective fat arses and working for it.
